After a good many years of great health dads health started failing after a heart bypass.He had
several strokes some only minor some more serious he bravely battled on despite his ailing health
for 7 years and on 13th may 2006 his tired soul found eternal peace.
Dad was a wonderful man,a fantastic husband,a loving father and devoted grandfather.A true
friend,dependable in a crises and always had a shoulder to cry on and a pair of ears to listen to
any problem.
He worked hard all his life.First in the mines and then at manchester ship yard,before spending 9
years in the parachute regiment.He thought nothing of putting his life on the line for others and
saved a friend from drowning in the canal at the age of 6 despite being able to swim himself.A
heroic deed he repeated at the age of 20.
He moved between Manchester and Worthing several times to follow work
as a scaffolder,and support his family.He finally settled in Worthing in 1980,although he never lost
touch with his northern roots.
He continued to work until 19 years ago when he became a full time carer to mum.As a family we have
suffered some tough times since then,but Dad was always there smiling and helping every one else
through,without so much as a second thought for himself.
It was in 1999,that his body decided it was time to slow down.When he had his first stroke,despite
being very ill he never lost his sense of humour and secretly enjoyed the attention he got from the
nurses they could not resist his charms!he liked to have fun hiding his false teeth,they were always
somewhere diffrent:the electric cupboard,the peg bag or even in the bottom of someones glass!
During his long battle with ill health he never complained,even when things were at there worse.Our
Dad was a very brave man.

As each day goes by i sit and think of all the good times we had. Going out to the park with the boys, and playing football, kite flying,and long walk along the cannals.Ihope the little ones r running rings around u. I miss u so much but i know we will meet again soon. We can play and runner round with jack and tabitha every day. Well darlin must go now but i will lite another candle on sunday 4 u. Hi my darling it has been 2yrs now that you have gone. Thank u for the lovely weather u and all the other angles have sent us. I still miss you so so much ,there is not a day that goes by that i do not think of u. Jonh is still looking after me as promised all those yrs ago. Well my darlin sleep well until we meet again.
